Habs sign Auld, Boyd to 1-year deals

The Montreal Canadiens have signed unrestricted free agent goalie Alex Auld to a one-year, $1 million contract and unrestricted free agent forward Dustin Boyd to a one-year, $650,000 contract.

Auld, 29, split last season with the Dallas Stars and the New York Rangers playing a total of 24 games and posted a record of 9-7-3. Auld compiled an 2.95 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage.

Born in Cold Lake, Alberta, Auld was a second-round selection, 40th overall, by the Florida Panthers in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Boyd, 23, split last season between the Calgary Flames and the Nashville Predators playing a combined total of 78 games and recording a personal career-high with 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists). He was acquired from the Predators earleir this week.

A native of Winnipeg, Boyd was a third-round selection, 98th overall by the Calgary Flames at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
