"The numerous options provided to me were impressive and I have no doubt that each one presented a unique opportunity for me to finish my career in a terrific hockey environment.
"I spent a great deal of time yesterday reflecting upon the teams who stepped forward and the opportunities that each provided. Unfortunately, I am simply not close to being ready to make a decision about resuming my career at this time.
"I wish all the teams the very best and thank them for their interest."
So, what does this mean?
Well, Sundin will take the time he needs and once he's ready, he'll notify the hockey world. Just don't expect an answer this week.
The Canadiens have tabled a two-year offer for Sundin's services, worth less than the two-year, $20 million deal the Canucks have pitched him.
It's believed Sundin, who those close to him say will return to the NHL next year, would like to remain on the East coast and has significant interest in joining the Habs. But for now, he's not ready to make any further announcements.
