Vanek signs 3-year deal with Wild
TheFourthPeriod.com

As TFP first reported, the Minnesota Wild has signed unrestricted free agent left wing Thomas Vanek to a three-year contract.

Vanek will earn $6.5 million, per year, on his new deal.

In 78 games last year with the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders and Montreal Canadiens, Vanek collected 27 goals and 41 assists for 68 points.

"Thomas is an elite offensive talent who showed a strong desire to play in Minnesota," Wild GM Chuck Fletcher said. "We are excited to welcome him to our organization."

The Vienna, Austria native was selected fifth overall by Buffalo in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
