Wild exploring goaltending options

Minnesota Wild GM Chuck Fletcher is exploring the market for a goaltender and has inquired about several netminders across the league.

The Wild has expressed an interest in New Jersey Devils superstar Martin Brodeur, who reportedly agreed to waive his no-trade clause to certain clubs.

It's unknown, at this point, if the Wild is on Brodeur's safe list of teams he'd accept a trade to.

According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Fletcher has also kicked the tires on Buffalo Sabres goalie Jaroslav Halak, Carolina Hurricanes goalies Cam Ward and Anton Khudobin, and Edmonton Oilers netminder Ilya Bryzgalov.

The paper suggests Ward's large contract, though, could be an issue for the Wild.

Halak was traded by St. Louis to the Sabres on Friday in a larger deal centering around star netminder Ryan Miller, whom the Wild was also interested in.

Halak is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

Wild beat reporter Michael Russo notes the team could also use a goal-scorer and a defenseman, in addition to a goaltender, but is unlikely to address all three areas given the team's proximity to the salary cap.
