The Minnesota Wild added to its offense today, signing unrestricted free agent winger Petr Sykora to a one-year, $1.6 million contract.
The deal was first reported by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Sykora, 32, scored 25 goals and added 21 assists for 46 points in 76 games with the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins last season.
The native of Plzen, Czech Republic, has accumulated 300 goals and 374 assists for 674 points in 921 career regular-season NHL games.
Sykora was New Jersey's first-round pick (No. 15 overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

The signing came pretty quick, considering Sykora was invited to camp on a tryout and skated yesterday, but the Wild wanted to lock him up. He should add nice secondary scoring to a team that needs it. -- David Pagnotta
