Wild sign defenseman Hnidy

The Minnesota Wild has signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Shane Hnidy to a one-year, $750,000 contract.

Hnidy, 33, registered three goals and nine assists, tying a career-high 12 points, in 65 with the Boston Bruins last season.

In 477 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, Atlanta Thrashers, Anaheim Ducks and Bruins, Hnidy has accumulated 14 goals and 43 assists for 57 points.

Hnidy was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh-round (173rd overall) of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
