The Minnesota Wild is among a group of teams trying to sign unrestricted free agent center Saku Koivu, reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Wild GM Chuck Fletcher told the paper "negotiations are ongoing with Saku," however there are other teams knocking on the door.
"We've expressed some interest. I think a lot of teams have expressed interest," Fletcher said. "He's a great hockey player and there aren't a lot of centermen in the market place, so I'd be stunned if 10 or 15 teams haven't reached out to him by this point.
"I certainly sensed some interest [from Koivu], but there's a lot of good situations out there. Most teams in the league are thin at the center position."
Koivu's agent, Don Baizley, said no decision is imminent.
The New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers are also very much interested in signing Koivu.
Meanwhile, the Star-Tribune claims the Wild is also trying to sign free agent right wing Ruslan Fedotenko, who is expected to make his decision later today.
