Wild trying to unite Koivu brothers

The Wild will pursue unrestricted free agent center Saku Koivu, and his brother, Mikko, will try to help the team's pitch, reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

"It would be a great opportunity and something special for sure [to play together], but there's a lot of things that he has to figure out with his family, and honestly, me," Mikko Koivu told the newspaper. "We've talked about it, and it would be something special.

"Obviously first he has to see what kind of offer he's going to get from different teams and figure out the best options. There's not a lot I can tell you right now, to be honest, but I'm sure by the end of the week, we're going to know some more and see where he's going to go."

The Canadiens' captain, Saku, will most certainly test the market later today, however he's expressed his desire to stay in Montreal. It's uncertain if and when the Habs will extend a new contract offer.

Meanwhile, Wild GM Chuck Fletcher and Marian Gaborik's agent Ron Salcer spoke yesterday, but it seems a deal will not be reached.
