The Minnesota Wild has hired now-former Pittsburgh Penguins assistant GM Chuck Fletcher as its newest general manager.

Fletcher becomes the second GM in franchise history. The Wild will formally introduce Fletcher as its GM on Friday at 5pm ET.

Fletcher, son of long-time league executive Cliff Fletcher, replaces Doug Risebrough, who was the Wild's GM since they were founded in 1999 to April.

He spent nine years with the Florida Panthers, seven as an assistant GM, before joining the Anaheim Ducks for four years as their directior of hockey operations. Fletcher joined the Penguins in 2006.
