Edmonton Oilers defenseman Brandon Davidson has heard his name linked to the Vegas Golden Knights, but he's trying not to worry about what may happen in June.
Davidson, according to the Edmonton Journal, is expected to be left unprotected in the summer expansion draft and is reportedly a prime target for the Golden Knights.
The Journal reports Knights Assistant GM Kelly McCrimmon and pro scout Kelly Kisio saw a lot of Davidson in the WHL and unless a trade is worked out to keep Vegas from selecting him, there is a good chance he'll end up on the NHL's 31st club.
"I've heard things but I can't think about that," Davidson told the paper. "I've noticed a couple of things but this is me, I'm an Edmonton Oiler. I'll let those guys (GM Peter Chiarelli) do their thing and I'll do mine. I'm just going out to play hockey and control what I can control."
It has been reported that the Oilers could also try to trade Davidson before the March 1 trade deadline rather than risk losing him for nothing during the expansion draft.
Davidson, 25, has registered one assist and 16 penalty minutes in 22 games with the Oilers so far this season.
