Coaching candidates picking up for Vegas

The Vegas Golden Knights are keeping a close eye on all of the coaching changes being made mid-season.

Golden Knights GM George McPhee is compiling a list of candidates he plans on interviewing for the team's head coach position.

During his latest "30 Thoughts" column on, Elliotte Friedman reported that former New York Islanders coach Jack Capuano could get an interview with Vegas.

Friedman added that former St. Louis Blues bench boss Ken Hitchcock, former Florida Panthers coach Gerard Gallant, and Montreal Canadiens assistant coach Kirk Muller could also be candidates.

McPhee has indicated that he prefers to hire a head coach with NHL coaching experience, and his list will expand once this current season comes to a close.

Vegas is expected to pick up its search in the spring, at most levels of the open hockey operations levels.
