The Vegas Golden Knights continue to scout players around the NHL and are compiling plenty of information as they work towards building a team for the 2017-18 season.
Golden Knights GM George McPhee and his staff will be going through their third mock expansion draft in less than two weeks, on Jan. 23.
The club is doing its due diligence and is focused on building the most competitive roster it can next season, but their focus also revolves around the college and junior ranks.
During Wednesday night's "Insider Trading" segment on TSN, Pierre LeBrun reported that the Golden Knights are keeping tabs on upcoming college free agents.
While Vegas cannot sign anyone right now, the team can have discussions with pending college free agents, and as LeBrun noted, the club has the luxury of offering them an NHL job next season.
The Golden Knights are scheduled to make their final expansion fee payments in March, upon which the team could start signing players and possibly making trades.
