The Los Angeles Kings are engaged in multiple trade discussions as today's trade deadline inches closer.
The Kings are believed to be in talks with the Detroit Red Wings, according to a league source, about left wing Thomas Vanek, who is in the final year of his contract.
Vanek, 33, comes with a $2.6 million salary cap hit, an afford figure for the Kings, who have space space to play with.
The Kings could also create additional salary cap space by placing defenseman Matt Greene on long-term injury reserve.
The Kings have also had discussions with the Nashville Predators about one of their forwards, though it's unclear whom they've specifically talked about.
Kings GM Dean Lombardi is also actively shopping right wing Marian Gaborik, as TFP reported earlier this month.
Gaborik, 35, has been on the block for a good portion of the season, as the Kings have been frustrated with his effort level.
