Kings acquire Lecavalier, Schenn from Flyers

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired center Vincent Lecavalier and defenseman Luke Schenn from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for center Jordan Weal and a third-round draft pick.

The Flyers are also paying for half of the balance of Lecavalier and Schenn's remain contracts.

Lecavalier, 35, has picked up one assist in seven games with the Flyers this season. He will announce his retirement at the conclusion of the Kings' season.

The native of Ile Bizard, Quebec has played in 1,170 career NHL regular-season games for the Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning, registering 411 goals and 521 assists for 932 points and 828 penalty minutes.

The first overall pick in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by Tampa Bay, Lecavalier won a Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004.

Schenn, 26, has appeared in 29 games this season with the Flyers, registering two goals, three assists and 30 penalty minutes.

The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has played for the Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs during his eight-year NHL career.

Drafted fifth overall by Toronto during the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Schenn has appeared in 523 career regular-season games he has 26 goals and 91 assists for 117 points and 357 penalty minutes.

Weal, 23, has appeared in 10 games during his first NHL season going scoreless with two penalty minutes. He was selected in the third round (70th overall) by the Kings in 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
