Kings know they need offense

Even the Los Angeles Kings' Twitter account knows the team is in desperate need of an offensive threat by the March 5 trade deadline.

As previously reported by TFP, the Kings have struggled to find the net of late, going 2-8-0 in their last 10 before the Olympic break.

In response to a 9-0 win over Switzerland by the American women's team in Sochi this week, the Kings' Twitter account joked that they have inquired with USA Hockey about acquiring some goal scorers.

The team's vice-president of communications and broadcasting, Michael Altieri said that the organization encourages the digital team to be creative and humorous whenever possible.

This isn't the first time the Kings official Twitter account has generated some laughs.

After defeating the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 in Game 1 of the Western Conference quarter-final in 2012, the eighth-place Kings published a message to Canadian fans: "To everyone in Canada outside of BC, you're welcome."

The tweet generated a flurry of outrage which led to an apology by the club.

Kings GM Dean Lombardi has been scouring the market and has shown interest in Buffalo Sabres left wing Matt Moulson, New York Islanders left wing Thomas Vanek and Winnipeg Jets sniper Evander Kane.
