While there is a concern over the team's coaching methods, multiple sources have told TFP, Lombardi is looking for external assistance rather than make a change behind the bench.
Lombardi primarily wants to acquire a first or second line left wing, but has other options available to him, as well.
According to the CBC's Elliotte Friedman, the Kings have spoken to the Edmonton Oilers have forward Sam Gagner.
It's unclear what other pieces have been discussed, but Friedman told The Fan 960 in Calgary that the "two teams have talked very seriously."
The Kings have also expressed an interest in Buffalo Sabres left wing Matt Moulson, left wingers Thomas Vanek and Michael Grabner of the New York Islanders, and Dallas Stars veteran Ray Whitney.
Teams have inquired about Kings young sniper Tyler Toffoli and defenseman Slava Voynov, but a source close to the organization told TFP the team is not interested in moving Voynov, but would consider parting with Toffoli, but "not necessarily for a rental player."
Kings young center Linden Vey and right wing Tanner Pearson could also be moved, the source said, though Lombardi is high on both of them, as well as Toffoli.
The Kings are also dangling the likes of forward Kyle Clifford and defenseman Alec Martinez in the trade market.
