Kings need to ignite offense

With just three points up on a wildcard spot, the Los Angeles Kings will have to fire up their offensive game if they want to make a run in/for the playoffs.

The Kings have been shut out in three of their past five games, scoring just three goals in their past six games.

Kings center Anze Kopitar has been the sole goal-scorer for the Kings in their past six.

Craig Custance of ESPN argues that Kings GM Dead Lombardi isn't afraid to make a big move to bring in a top-six forward.

With the Kings in desperate need of some scoring, Custance speculates possible options include Matt Moulson, Mike Cammalleri, or Alex Hemsky, all who have been mentioned in recent trade rumors.

Sources have told TFP that the Kings want to acquire a first or second line left winger, which might put Hemsky out of the mix.

Lombardi has been has been known to make big moves in the past in order to fire up the Kings offensive game. In 2012, he dealt Jack Johnson and a first round pick to the Blue Jackets in exchange for Jeff Carter. The trade lit a fire under the Kings, seeing them hoist the cup a few months later.

A trade for the Kings could come sooner rather than later, with the Olympic trade freeze on Feb 7. only a few days away.

Los Angeles is 2-7-1 in its last 10 games, and 30-21-6 on the season. The team currently sits sixth in the Western Conference with 66 points.
