Martinez inks 2-year deal

The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Alex Martinez to a two-year, $2.2 million contract.

Martinez, 25, had filed for salary arbitration, but that will now be avoided.

In 27 games with the Kings this past season, Martinez registered one goal and four assists for five points.

The native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, has played in 142 career NHL regular-season games, all with the Kings, and has accumulated 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points, along with 38 penalty minutes.

Martinez was originally drafted by the Kings in the fourth-round (95th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
