Scuderi, 34, is in the final year of a four-year contract that pays him $3.4 million per season. He can become an unrestricted free agent this July.
Lombardi has left the door open for Scuderi to return to the Kings be signing an extension, according to Bernstein.
In 17 games with the Kings so far this season, Scuderi has registered one goal and three assists for four points, a plus-1 rating and two penalty minutes.
The Kings could get Scuderi locked up to a multi-year deal if negotiations move in the right direction this season, though a deal could be pushed until the off-season.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion (last season with the Kings, and in 2008-09 with Pittsburgh) has played in 554 career NHL games with the Penguins and Kings, and has accumulated seven goals and 71 games for 78 points, and 167 penalty minutes.
Scuderi was originally drafted by the Penguins in the fifth-round, 134th overall, of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
