O'Byrne signs in KHL

Veteran defenseman Ryan O'Byrne is headed to the Kontinental Hockey League, having signed a two-year contract with HC LEV Praha.

O'Byrne, 29, was an unrestricted free agent after splitting last season with the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leaf

In 308 career NHL regular-season games with the Montreal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche, and Maple Leafs, O'Byrne has accumulated five goals and 34 assists for 39 points and 369 penalty minutes.

O'Byrne, a native of Victoria, B.C., was drafted by Montreal in the third round, 79th overall in 2003.
