The Florida Panthers, now third in the Atlantic Division, are looking to improve their chances of post-season play and are expected to be buyers as the trade deadline looms.
In a phone interview with NHL.com, Panthers President of Hockey Operations Dale Tallon confirmed his team wants to add pieces between now and the March 1 deadline.
"The goal is to be buying," Tallon said. "I like where we're at, but I'd like to add some offense to get our power play going."
The Panthers have plenty of salary cap space to play with and are willing to part with young assets and prospects for the right deal.
It's unclear whom the Panthers are pursuing, but the team has been linked to Detroit Red Wings left wing Thomas Vanek, Dallas Stars left wing Patrick Eaves and Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith, among others.
