Boyes signs two-year extension

The Florida Panthers have signed right wing Brad Boyes to a two-year, $5.25 million contract extension.

Boyes, 31, was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent July 1

The Panthers were exploring the trade market on Boyes until he was willing to sign an extension with the club.

In 59 games with the Panthers this season, Boyes has collected 17 goals and 11 assists for 28 points.

Boyes was originally drafted 24th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

He has appeared in 665 career NHL regular-season games with the Panthers, Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders, and has accumulated 185 goals and 250 assists for 435 points.
