Several teams have inquired about Boyes' availability, but Panthers GM Dale Tallon has opted to work towards an extension.
Panthers beat reporter Harvey Fialkov of the South-Florida Sun Sentinel is also reporting that a new contract for Boyes is on the horizon.
With Boyes' extension almost complete, the Panthers will focus on other players they plan on moving prior to the March 5 trade deadline.
Forwards Tomas Fleischmann, Shawn Matthias, Tomas Kopecky and Marcel Goc, defensemen Mike Weaver, Dmitry Kulikov and Tom Gilbert, and goaltender Scott Clemmensen are being tossed around the trade market.
Fleischmann has a limited no-movement clause and will have a say in where he ends up, if the Panthers find a trade they're willing to accept.
Tallon and Kulikov are expected to discuss an extension, as well.
