Panthers on verge of being sold

The Florida Panthers are on the verge of being sold to a new ownership group that will keep the team in the Sunshine State.

According to the New York Post, the Panthers have a deal in place that will be announced within the next few weeks.

"It's imminent," one unnamed source told the Post.

The paper claims the group buying the team is from New York.

The Panthers have struggled mightily over the years, making the playoffs just once in the last 13 seasons and are among the bottom-feeders in league-wide attendance.

Earlier this summer, the Phoenix Coyotes and New Jersey Devils obtained new owners, helping to solidify their place in their respective markets.
