"I have a no-move clause anyway, so I can't get traded without the team coming to me first if they wanted to do that. But that definitely doesn't bother me," Weiss told the paper.
Weiss, 29, also refused to blame his lack of offense on an early groin injury or the ongoing flu, remaining confident that he will get his game back on track.
In the meantime, Panthers GM Dale Tallon maintains he is not shopping Weiss and intends to re-sign him before he hits the open market, however sources have told TFP the center will explore the open market in July.
Rumors are expected to keep surfacing unless Tallon signs Weiss to an extension before the April 3 trade deadline; however, no reports indicate that both camps are close to an agreement.
In 11 games with the Panthers this season, Weiss has collected one goal and three assists for four points.
