TheFourthPeriod.com

Florida Panthers forward Shawn Matthias was injured in a game last night while playing for EHC Linz in Austria's Erste Bank Eishockey Liga.

Matthias, who signed with EHC Linz on Dec. 2, may have suffered a concussion in a 6-4 loss to Red Bull Salzburg, according to local reports.

The 24-year-old was being examined by doctors today and is supposed to be formally diagnosed as early as tomorrow.

Matthias' contract is for the entire month of December, though he might return to North America prior to Dec. 31.

In four games with EHC Linz, Matthias registered one goal and two assists for three points.
