Panthers sign center Mueller

The Florida Panthers have signed unrestricted free agent center Peter Mueller to a one-year, $1.725 million contract.

Mueller, 24, registered seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 32 games with the Colorado Avalanche last season.

The native of Bloomington, MN, missed the rest of season and all of the 2010-11 campaign due to concussion symptoms.

In 254 career NHL regular-season games with the Phoenix Coyotes and Avalanche, Mueller has accumulated 55 goals and 88 assists for 143 points.

He was originally drafted eighth overall by the Coyotes in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
