Versteeg out for at least three games

The Florida Panthers will look to maintain their advantage this week without the services of their leading scorer Kris Versteeg.

According to the Miami Herald, Panthers coach Kevin Dineen confirmed that top forward will miss at least the next three games with a lower-body injury.

The 25-year-old was reportedly hurting following Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes and attempted to play on Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens, but he could only last the first period.

The injury comes at a bad time for the Panthers, who currently hold a three-point lead over the Washington Capitals, and a four-point lead over the Winnipeg Jets in the race for the Southeast Division lead.

In 59 games this season, Versteeg has recorded 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points.
