Panthers sitting tight until camp TheFourthPeriod.com
Having completely revamped his roster, Panthers GM Dale Tallon isn't expected to make anymore major moves until training camp opens, the South-Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
The Panthers brought in several new players via trades and free agency, such as Brian Campbell, Tomas Kopecky, Tomas Fleischmann, Ed Jovanovski and Kris Versteeg, moving their payroll up past $50.5 million.
The additions have not only pleased members of the organization and the local fan base, but NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was even impressed by the team's willingness to retool and build a competitive team.
"Gary is very, very happy," Panthers Chairman Cliff Viner told the paper. "He has complimented us on what we've done.
"Gary's got a soft spot in his heart for this franchise. He helped get this building built. He wants us to be successful. He's committed to this market. He knows it can work in South Florida."
