The trade deadline came and went with 55 players changing teams over 31 deals, none of which included Florida Panthers goaltender Tomas Vokoun.

Despite attracting plenty of interest, the Panthers never received an offer they felt worthy of parting with Vokoun.

Vokoun, who has one-year remaining on his contract beyond this season, acknowledged that he would consider accepting a trade if the right situation presented itself. However, sources told TFP yesterday that Panthers GM Randy Sexton never approached Vokoun about waiving his no-trade clause.

The Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals were all reportedly interested in Vokoun.

The Panthers did complete two trades yesterday, dealing Dennis Seidenberg to the Boston Bruins and acquiring Mathieu Roy from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

According to the Miami Herald, the Panthers tried to pull the trigger on other deals, but management did not feel the offers being presented were acceptable.

"Had we wanted to just have a fire sale, we would have been taking fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh round picks," Sexton told the paper. "I like a lot of our team. I'm not happy with where we are. . . . But I didn't want to get out the dynamite and blow the team up."

The Panthers were believed to be entertaining offers for forwards Steven Reinprecht, Rostislav Olesz, Nathan Horton and Cory Stillman.

One published report out of Montreal claimed the Canadiens were interested in Horton.
