The Florida Panthers and GM Randy Sexton have been busy working the phones and discussing trade options with a number of teams around the league.
Sexton has acknowledged the Panthers could make a number of moves before the Mar. 3 trade deadline, having already completed one deal that sent Dominic Moore to the Montreal Canadiens prior to the Olympic roster freeze.
Forward Rostislav Olesz and defensemen Jordan Leopold and Dennis Seidenberg are expected to be dealt, but according to several reports, goalie Tomas Vokoun could also be on the move.
Vokoun, who has one-year left on his contract beyond this season, has a no-trade clause and would have to approve any deal the Panthers try to make.
The veteran netminder is currently between the pipes for the Czech Republic at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and while he's focused on bringing home a medal, he's already heard the endless trade reports.
"I follow hockey closely and I've heard a few things," Vokoun told the Vancouver Province earlier this week.
"[Sexton] hasn't come to me with anything, so I'm not really knowing anything. But if it comes ... right now I'm trying to concentrate on this competition."
According to sources, Vokoun is willing to waive his no-trade clause for the right environment.
Speculation has run wild these past few days with the belief that the Chicago Blackhawks are working on a trade for Vokoun that would see fellow goalie Cristobal Huet head to Florida as part of a package.
Trade talks will heat up as the days inch closer to the deadline. Teams can official complete a trade at 12:00am on Mar. 1.
