Panthers evaluating trade options
TheFourthPeriod.com

Having already completed one trade prior to the Olympic roster freeze, the Florida Panthers are expected to pull the trigger on a couple more before the Mar. 3 trade deadline.

The Panthers dealt forward Dominic Moore to the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 11 after GM Randy Sexton let out his frustration with how his team performed lately.

Sexton is believed to be entertaining trade calls for forwards Rostislav Olesz, Radek Dvorak and Cory Stillman, and defensemen Jordan Leopold and Dennis Seidenberg.

It has also been widely reported that the team will consider trading goalie Tomas Vokoun, who has one more year beyond this season left on his contract.

Vokoun, however, has a no-trade clause and has not yet been approached about waiving it. Should such an event take place, it won't be until after the Olympics.

By all accounts, the Panthers will be sellers at the trade deadline. They have some solid assets Cup contenders are interested in, but whether they will pay the asking price remains to be seen. There are also some rumblings over Nathan Horton, who should return from injury after the Olympics. -- David Pagnotta
