Report: Panthers shopping Vokoun

The Florida Panthers appear to be actively shopping veteran goalie Tomas Vokoun, with GM Randy Sexton contacting his counterparts and weighing his options.

According to Fanhouse Senior NHL Writer Chris Botta, Vokoun has become expendable because top goaltending prospect Jacob Markstrom is ready to join the organization next season.

Markstrom, who is spending this season in the Swedish Elite League, was the Panthers' second-round pick in 2008.

Vokoun, 33, has one-year remaining on his contract beyond this season at a cap hit of $6.3 million.

Botta indicates that Sexton will have a difficult time trying to move Vokoun, especially at this point in the season, as the Panthers' demands may be too high.

According to several published reports, the Panthers have also entertaining the thought of trading forwards Nathan Horton and Rostislav Olesz.
