The Florida Panthers have signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Dennis Seidenberg on a one-year contract.

"Dennis is a strong and physical defenseman who is hard to play against,” said Panthers assistant GM Randy Sexton. "He adds size and speed to our club and helps to solidify our blueline. He played a key role in Carolina’s playoff run last season and we expect the same contributions from him as a Panther this year."

Seidenberg, 28, played in 70 games last year for Carolina recording a National Hockey League career best 30 points (5-25-30).

For his career in the NHL, he has appeared in 295 contests for Carolina (2006-09), Phoenix (2005-07) and Philadelphia (2002-04) registering 84 points (14-70-84) with 113 PIM.

The Schwenningen, Germany native was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers with their sixth choice (172nd overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
