Panthers shopping Horton?

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Ottawa Sun is reporting that the Florida Panthers are trying to trade young star center Nathan Horton.

Horton, 23, is currently injured after hurting his right ankle. It has been widely reported that he's been unhappy with his time in South Florida. The Sun suggests his $4 million salary might make him difficult to trade.

Meanwhile, the Sun also claims the Panthers are looking to trade left wing Rostislav Olesz and center Brett McLean.

From the Editor: The Panthers need all the help in the world up front. Trading away Nathan Horton doesn't make much sense right now. They need to acquire a sniper to play alongside him, not trade him away. I don't entirely buy into this rumor. The Panthers will look to trade defenseman Jay Bouwmeester later in the season in an attempt to acquire more scoring and offensive punch. I'd bet on that happening, not Horton being dealt. It's entirely possible, I guess, but right now it's unlikely. -- David Pagnotta
