Jokinen attracting a lot of interest

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Florida Panthers have been entertaining a lot of interest in their captain Olli Jokinen, and sources suggest the team could pull the trigger on a trade in the coming weeks.

TFP has learned that Panthers GM Jacques Martin has received a few phone calls regarding Jokinen's availability and a deal could be reached closer to the June 20-21 NHL Entry Draft.

On Monday, an Internet report claimed the Panthers were on the verge of dealing Jokinen, however the Miami Herald reported on its website that no deal involving the 29-year-old is forthcoming.

The Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets have all reportedly inquired about Jokinen.

Martin and Jokinen have not seen eye-to-eye for the better part of the 2007-08 season. The Herald claims there are those within the organization, including owner Alan Cohen, who would prefer to keep Jokinen.

Although, with the draft and free agency quickly approaching, the Panthers could see a plethora of offers come their way and one might be attractive enough for them to make a move.
