Panthers want mobile defenseman

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Panthers plan on adding a puck-moving defenseman this off-season, according to the Palm Beach Post.

"Our No. 1 need is for a puck-moving defenseman," Panthers coach/GM Jacques Martin told the paper. "Whether it's through free agency or a trade, it's our top priority for this off-season."

Martin confirmed that he tried to acquire defenseman Brian Campbell from the Buffalo Sabres at the trade deadline, but came up short.

Campbell and Colorado Avalanche blueliner John-Michael Liles are set to become unrestricted free agents this summer, and the Panthers could target both in July.
