Panthers acquire Belak, Kilger, Skrastins TheFourthPeriod.com
The Florida Panthers completed three trades on trade deadline day, acquiring Wade Belak and Chad Kilger from Toronto, and Karlis Skrastins from Colorado.
For Belak, the Panthers gave the Maple Leafs a 2008 fifth-round draft pick. In a separate trade, they then landed Kilger for a 2008 third-round pick.
In another move, the Panthers acquired Skrastins and a third round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Avalanche in exchange for D Ruslan Salei.
Belak has played in 425 NHL contests registering eight goals and 21 assists, while amassing 1,096 penalty minutes.
This year, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native played in 30 games with the Maple Leafs scoring one goal with 66 penalty minutes.
Skrastins has played in 582 NHL contests scoring 22 goals with 74 assists and 271 PIM. He appeared in 43 games with the Avalanche this season scoring one goal with three assists and 20 penalty minutes.
Kilger, 31, has 107 goals and 111 assists in 714 games, and this season he had 10 goals and seven assists with 53 games with the Maple Leafs.
