The Florida Panthers have agreed to terms with Stephen Weiss on a six-year, $18.6 million contract.

"Stephen is an important part of our core nucleus of offensive talent and we are pleased to have reached a long term agreement with him," said Panthers coach and GM Jacques Martin. "He posted career best numbers last season and we look forward to his continued production and contributions to our organization both on and off the ice."
The Toronto native has played in 249 NHL contests, all with Florida, scoring 48 goals with 73 assists and 77 penalty minutes.
He was originally drafted by Florida with their first choice (4th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
