Oilers sign Kassian to 1-year deal

The Edmonton Oilers have officially re-signed right wing Zack Kassian to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

In 36 games with the Oilers this season, Kassian registered three goals and five assists for eight points and 114 penalty minutes.

Kassian, 25, was acquired by the Oilers from the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 28, 2015, in exchange for goalie Ben Scrivens.

The native of Windsor, Ontario, has played in 234 career NHL regular-season games with the Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks and Oilers, Kassian has accumulated 38 goals and 36 assists for 74 points, and 421 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted 13th overall by the Sabres in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
