Yakupov would welcome trade

If the Edmonton Oilers trade Nail Yakupov prior to today's 3pm ET trade deadline, the 22-year-old would welcome a move, multiple sources close to the Oilers have told TFP.

Yakupov, who has one-year left on his contract, has struggled in Edmonton and it's believed a change of scenery would be in the best interest of both the player and the team.

The Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets, New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes are among the teams interested in Yakupov.

It's unclear what the Oilers are looking for in exchange for Yakupov.

According to one source close to the organization, even the Oilers are debating what the appropriate return should be for the former first-overall draft pick.

If the Oilers do not trade Yakupov today, they will continue to evaluate their options and could pull the trigger on a deal in the off-season.
