Hemsky welcomes inevitable trade

Ales Hemsky is excited to be moving on, as the Edmonton Oilers winger knows he's going to be dealt before the March 5 trade deadline.

Oilers GM Craig MacTavish assured Hemsky that he'll be moved in the coming days, which has the veteran itching to find out where he'll end up.

"I know it will happen, and I'm ready for it," Hemsky told reporters on Friday. "I'm excited."

Several teams have expressed an interest in Hemsky, including the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Columbus Blue Jackets and Tampa Bay Lightning.

MacTavish is believed to be looking for a high draft pick as part of a deal for Hemsky and could wait right up until the 3pm ET deadline this coming Wednesday.

"It could be my last two games (coming up) in this locker room, so I better enjoy it," Hemsky said.

In 53 games with the Oilers so far this season, Hemsky has registered seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points.
