Oilers sign free agent Grebeshkov

The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with defenceman Denis Grebeshkov on a one year contract worth $1.5 million.

Grebeshkov, 29, split the 2012-13 season between St. Petersburg SKA and Khanty-Mansiysk Yugra of the KHL, registering eight assists and 22 penalty minutes in 44 games.

He spent three seasons with Edmonton from 2007-2010, accumulating 76 points (16G, 60A) and 86 penalty minutes in 190 games.

The Yaroslavl, Russia native played five seasons in the NHL, spending time with the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators, accumulating 17 goals and 69 assists for 86 points and 112 penalty minutes in 229 career games.

Grebeshkov was drafted 18th overall by the Kings in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
