The Edmonton Oilers have avoided arbitration with restricted free agent center Sam Gagner, signing him to a one-year, $3.2 million contract.

Gagner, 22, played in 75 games last season with the Oilers scoring a career-high 18 goals with 29 assists for 47 points.

On Feb. 2, 2012, Gagner recorded eight points against the Chicago Blackhawks.

In five seasons in the NHL, all with the Oilers, Gagner has accumulated 77 goals and 143 assists for 220 points in 366 games.

The native of London, Ontario, was originally drafted sixth-overall by the Oilers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
