Twenty-six of the 30 NHL teams supposedly expressed interest in the young defenseman's services, and many believe that his home-province Vancouver Canucks are the team to beat.
The Oilers plan on using young forwards Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle as part of the pitch, while the New York Rangers will include Schultz's former teammates Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh as connections to acquire the talented blueliner.
The Maple Leafs could also do the same with former teammate Jake Gardiner.
Under the rules of the CBA, Schultz can be offered a two-year deal with a maximum salary cap of $3.8 million, with bonuses.
