Gilbert, who missed more than a month with an ankle injury before returning on Feb. 6, has also two years left on the six-year contract he signed with the Oilers in 2008 with a $4 million annual cap hit.
In 47 games with the Oilers this season, Gilbert has collected three goals and 14 assists for 17 points.
