Hemsky signs two-year, $10 million contract

The Edmonton Oilers have signed right wing Ales Hemsky to a two-year contract extension worth $10 million.

Hemsky, 28, has picked up five goals and 21 assists for 26 points in 47 games with the Oilers this season.

Hemsky's best season came in 2005-06 when he had 77 points (19 goals, 58 assists) in 81 games.

Hemsky has spent his entire nine year NHL career with the Oilers and in 537 games he has accumulated 119 goals and 302 assists for 421 points.

He was selected by Edmonton in the first-round, 13th overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
