Oilers could pursue Weber

If Shea Weber becomes a restricted free agent this summer, the Oilers could be one of the teams interested in signing him to an offer sheet, reports the Edmonton Journal.
According to the paper, since the Oilers pursued RFAs Thomas Vanek and Dustin Penner in the past, going after Weber could be a possibility.
It's believed the Oilers would be willing to give up the necessary compensation (one or two first-round picks, a second-round pick and a third-round pick) if the Nashville Predators fail to match the offer.
The Detroit Red Wings could also take a look at Weber if captain Nicklas Lidstrom retires, though that might not happen this summer.
The Journal suggests the Predators could sign Weber to a one-year deal, making him an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2012.
