Having already completed one trade yesterday, Oilers GM Steve Tambellini is gearing up for a busy day and a half, reports the Edmonton Journal.
Yesteday, the Oilers dealt defenseman Denis Grebeshkov to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a second-round draft pick, and they aren't done.
"It's the first step," Tambellini told the Journal. "Are there more things we want to accomplish? Absolutely.
"We're trying to get as many assets as possible."
Tambellini and his staff are currently in Chicago, where the Oilers play Wednesday, preparing for trade deadline day.
It has been widely reported that Sheldon Souray, Shawn Horcoff, Lubomir Visnovsky, Ethan Moreau, Tom Gilbert, Mike Comrie, Andrew Cogliano and Fernando Pisani have all attracted interest from teams across the league.
"If we can't (make changes) by Wednesday, we'll look to the draft, but the discussions that have taken place the last couple of days (with other NHL GMs) have been a lot more productive," Tambellini said.
