Souray trade on the horizon
TheFourthPeriod.com

It appears the Edmonton Oilers are inching closer to trading star defenseman Sheldon Souray, though a deal is not expected until after the Olympic roster freeze.

Souray, who has a no-trade clause, submitted a list of six teams he'd accept a trade to, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Dreger reports the Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals and New York Rangers are the only team's on Souray's radar.

While a trade is not guaranteed, Oilers GM Steve Tambellini seems set on making a move.

Souray, along with defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, and forwards Ethan Moreau, Shawn Horcoff and Robert Nilsson could all be moved before the Mar. 3 trade deadline.

The Oilers would like to move Souray for not only a package of young talent, but to free up some cap space for off-season movement. Tambellini plans of reshaping his roster for the start of the 2010-11 season and will be very busy before the deadline. -- David Pagnotta
